Illustration：RDLPFFPVPID(iAβ11) has a similar degree of hydrophobicity as the native amyloid β-peptide(Aβ), but with a low propensity to adopt a β-sheet conformation. It istherefore called anti-β-sheet peptide or β-sheet inhibitor. iAβ11 binds to Aβ,inhibits Aβ fibril formation and partially disaggregates preformed fibrils invitro. This anti-β-sheet peptide may serve as a starting point to designinhibitors of amyloidogenesis in vivo.
